Welcome to ISPS

The ISPS was initally founded for the teaching of laparoscopic gynecology and gynecological oncology (malignant genital tumours). With the development of laparoscopy, the exposure and preservation of the pelvic nerves became possible and thus opened a new medical field, the "laparoscopic neuro-functional pelvic surgery" with three fields of indications:

  • Sparing of the sexuality/bladder and intestinal functions during laparoscopic pelvic surgery specially during surgery for gynecologic cancers and severe endometriosis; this method is based on the primary exposure and sparing of the pelvic nerves using the technique of  "Laparoscopic Neuro-Navigation" - LANN-technique -
  • Laparoscopic pelvic neurosurgery deals with pudendal nerve (AlcockĀ“s canal syndrome) surgery, sciatic nerve surgery (sciatica with endopelvic causes as endometriosis or postsurgery), ilio-inguinal / genitofemoral nerves (secondary to herniorraphie)...
  • LION procedure for pain therapy and incontinence therapy in patients with multiple sclerosis, phantom pain after amputation, (diabetic) polypenuropathy of the lower extremities, pelvic neuralgies...
  • LION procedure for Functional Electrical Stimulation to restore bladder and bowel function and locomotion of paralyzed patients, patients with myelomeningozele or spina bifida.
